I Am but One Piece in a Very, Very Large Dance

Albert Stern

It is so easy to lose track of how beautiful, majestic, and awe-inspiring it is simply to be alive. It is easy for me to get stuck in thoughts of bank accounts, chores, and daily responsibilities. I can easily to forget  how amazing it is to breathe air, see colors, think thoughts, and marvel at the awe of everything.

When I lose track of my way facts such as the recently discovered ASASSN-15lh super-luminous supernova helps remind me.

A supernova a truly massive explosion which occurs at the end of the life of some stars. Scientists recently discovered an explosion so large they have no idea what it is.

If you take ALL of the light of the billions and billions of stars in the Milky Way galaxy combined together, the ASASSN-15lh explosion is 20 times brighter.

This explosion is so large research scientists are unsure how it could have been created.

“The explosion’s mechanism and power source remain shrouded in mystery" - Subo Dong, researcher, and author.

There are big mysteries, such as this, left to discover. There are mysteries of unknown power and scale.

These thoughts help remind me - I am  one piece in a very, very large dance. It is an amazing wonderful dance. I want to always remember how amazing it to be a part of.

When Soap Bubbles Freeze - it is Gorgeous!

Albert Stern

There is staggering beauty in seeing objects freeze. Polish photographer, Paul ZaŁusk, created a short video about soap bubbles freezing.

It is much, much more interesting than I would have imagined. The soap begins to spin slightly and crystallize at the same time!

Take two minutes to be enchanted by this video.

I seem to be on a theme of frozen macro photography. If you missed it check out the amazing snowflake photography Don Komarechka.
