Water Project in the African Country of Mali Complete!

Albert Stern

This is so exciting!

Back in 2014, I put together a campaign to raise money for a group which provides sustainable drinking water in places of need. Charity Water is a charity based in the United States devoted to ending the world's water crisis.

I wrote about Charity Water back in March of this year. One of the things I love about Charity Water is there business model involves using 100% of donations for projects (they raise administration fees from private donors.) When a project is finished they send donors a report showing exactly how their money was used

My campaign involved asking for donations and in return I sent all the donors paintings of mine.

This week I received a report stating the project was complete. These are the details:

- The donors and I raised $1,110.
- The money was used to send a drilling rig to a community called, Kombori Kouna in Mali.
- A well was dug and a pump built.
- The local community has been trained in maintaining the well physically and financially.
- A community of 259 people have clean local drinking water easily accessible.

This is a photo of the well.

And this is where it is located.

Charity Water is a truly wonderful organization. I truly believe in the work they are doing.

If you are interested in learning more about Charity Water you can email me. Or, this video is a great quick introduction.

My thanks to everyone who contributed back in 2014. I am very grateful.

What Was the First Thing You Did Today?

Albert Stern

The first thing you did today most likely involved water.

A few years ago I heard the founder of Charity Water, Scott Harrison, speak at a conference I attended. It was very powerful for me. I left the talk believing it is possible for clean water to be brought to everyone on earth. In the past, I have donated and raised money for Charity Water projects. I am planning on doing another campaign this year. Stay tuned!
